"Do I believe Re-Invention can change the world?
I believe that with God nothing is impossible!"
After years in the fashion industry promoting and marketing women's accessories and clothing to high-end boutiques across the country, Kellie Guthrie decided to focus her experience, talents, and gifts on solutions for real change in the world.
She has seen firsthand the effects of extreme poverty and its many forms of exploitation. Kellie went on a mission trip to Bangkok, Thailand in 2007 to work with NightLight International, a ministry and social business working on the front lines of Bangkok's sex-trafficking industry. This was an experience that forever changed her life. She has said that, "once you see something like that, there is no turning back, you must do something about it." Although devastated by the brokenness she has seen in the world, it has inspired her. She knows from her own experience that at the point where there seems to be nothing left, everything is possible.
Kellie desires to leave a legacy of giving and compassion. Her creative and passionate spirit, coupled with a desire to serve and live larger, led her to create Re-Invention, a social business that creates one-of-a-kind home & travel goods- a lifestyle brand of giving and serving that believes in the power of collaboration for greater impact. Kellie and her team know that when women come together, they have the ability to move mountains. As a woman-owned design business working with and for women, Re-Invention believes in the power of community created when women come together to lift up each other and the world with their gifts, abilities, and passions.
"It's history-making time, and right now, in this country, we have an incredible opportunity to take what still works, throw out what doesn’t, and create something far more sustainable. I'm tired of hearing they need to do something...who are they? We have a lot of poverty around us and people need jobs, and those jobs must be created. However, in order for people to successfully enter/re-enter the workplace, we must create companies that, 1. are committed to people long-term, 2. provide training and 3. provide needed infrastructure, like on-site daycare, after-school programs for children, tutoring, etc. We must create an environment that offers what's needed for someone to successfully conquer a poverty mindset...we must create businesses that build communities, not empires! Do I believe Re-Invention can change the world? I believe that with God nothing is impossible!"
